Read what coaches are saying about Smush Balls
“These are the best training balls we have found yet. The durability is second to none. Unlike the whiffle balls these balls give our hitters a true feel and flight path when we are doing drills and pregame work. In the scheme of our program there is no false reads while using the smushballs and our kids can see the results and then evaluate what they need to work on based off the result of contact. Since in California there is no Batting Practice allowed prior to the game these are the perfect training balls for us. There is no better product out there.” - Jared Snyder, Valencia High School - Head Baseball Coach (California) "Smushballs are the perfect tool for pregame soft-toss. The players get instant feedback from how the balls come off the bat and in windy conditions are much more beneficial than whiffle balls." - John Maggiora, SaugusHigh School, Head Baseball Coach (California)
“I use the Smushballs and find they are great, they give the kids a feel of a harder hit, the wind does not blow the ball off the T’s and they are easier to work with.”Loa Bowthorpe – Union High School – Head Softball Coach (Utah)
“We purchased the smushballs for use in our new indoor hitting facility. We had been using whiffle balls but have had quite a few of them break or become so out of shape we could now longer use them. We have had no problems with your smushballs yet. We pound and pound them on a daily basis and have damaged only one ball so far.” - Roger Mayo, Escambia High School - Athletic Director, Head Baseball Coach (Florida)
“The smushballs worked great for indoor hitting drills and the kids really like using them more than the whiffle balls when doing our hitting drills. It turned out to be a very good investment for our program.” - Brandon Collins, Hereford High School - Head Baseball Coach (Texas)
“Smushballs are much easier to use in the wind than whiffle balls. We have a constant wind blowing at our field during practice and the smushballs have been very beneficial to us. I've also used them with my son's little league team using a cut off broom handle for the bat. We do soft toss drills with the small diameter bat and the smushballs and it helps the little guys feel when they've made good contact, otherwise the ball just flutters if they don't make good contact.” - Klayton Wyckoff, West Valley High School - Head Baseball Coach (Yakima,WA)
My team's used the smushballs all summer long and I found them to be very convenient and very helpful. We were able to get in many swings before our game and I don't think we damaged any balls. They are very durable. I recommend them to everyone. They are way better than traditional wiffle balls." Shawn Maloney, Head Baseball Coach - Warren Mott High School and Michigan Chargers 18U (Michigan)
“Smushballs are a great hitting tool to use when you have indoor
“I recommend them. In terms of cost, durability, and using pre game time efficiently, smushballs are the way to go. They are far superior to wiffle balls. I will implement their usage into our indoor workouts as well.” – John Meyer, Marquette High School – Head Baseball Coach (Missouri)
“We love the smushballs. They fly much straighter during our front toss drills, are a little heavier than whiffles to feel more like a baseball, and they are much more durable. We would buy dozens of whiffles every spring to work on our mechanical drills but I think one order of smushballs will allow us to reuse the same balls for several seasons. There is no wear and tear signs on any of our smushballs yet and we have hit them for over six months.” - Jeremy Kitson, Matanzas High School - Head Baseball Coach (Florida)
"We used smushballs last May at a father/son clinic that we hosted - they were perfect to use with the young kids at our hitting station as I would have my varsity players maybe 10-15 feet away - they could easily put throw the ball in spots that the young kids could make contact – and my varsity players didn't have to worry about getting hurt from the ball. I also used smushballs at my varsity practices as I'd just have someone maybe 15-20 ft. away zipping balls into different spots of the strikezone - or possibly out of the strike zone to discipline our hitters not to swing at bad pitches - no 'L' screen needed.”
“I ordered two dozen last spring and they worked well. The cost compared to whiffle balls was comparable, maybe even cheaper and while the whiffle balls would split and crack after a month the smushballs lasted the entire season without any damage. They will be used again this season (and beyond) as they have not yet come close to the end of their life cycle!” - Bob DeRuiter, Evangelical Christian Academy – Principal (Colorado Springs,CO)
“Purchased 24 in May, Dog got one and one over a fence, 22 left in perfect conditions.” Anonymous
We loved them! I have used wiffle balls indoors for years. The players grab the smushballs to hit and leave the wiffle balls. They seem to last where the wiffileballs break. We won the Conference Championship in Nassau County on Long Island. Ken Sicoli – East Meadow HS, NY
Both our Baseball and Softball teams used the smushballs. We had a lot of rain this spring and with only one indoor cage and four teams, they both said that they were great for indoor batting practice. Both varsity teams had good seasons going on to regional play. Allen Lawter, Halifax County High School, VA
I absolutely love them. My kids use them all the time and they are safe and last a long time. My team went from a 7-24 last lace team to a 20-12 first place team in one year. Our batting average went up from .279 to .310. Smushballs were one of the many factors that helped us improve so much in so little time. I recommend these to anybody interested in taking their team to a high level. You can use them anywhere, anytime. Shawn Maloney - Warren Mott High School - MI Hitting Instructor-Detroit Batting Academy
We really like them. Just used them in camp this week for hitting drills. I have used them for almost three years and have not had one break yet. We use them at away games in the outfield when we do not have access to a cage. My players really like using them. There is no doubt they are better than wiffle balls (safer and last much longer). I highly recommend them and saw our opponent using them before our game last night at home. We also use them inside during the spring. John – Wildwood, MO
The smush balls were as advertised, we used them every day in practice and pregame. We were able to use them at really close distances without fear of being injured. I like the feedback part(oblong ball) as well. We had several people get hit by them and seriously there were no injuries what so ever, one of the best items I have ever purchases for our program. The balls are great inside as well having not to fear any damage to anything. Happy to report that we didn't lose 1 ball because of tearing or spliting. Scott Bishop, Head softball Coach, Garrett, IN
The smushballs were great! I have used
other "softie" type balls previously but found the smushballs to be
the most useful. They provide enough weight to be thrown accuratley yet
limited flight enough that they can be used in almost any setting, a
combination I had been struggling to find. The use of the balls was a
piece in us becoming 2009 district champions.
Gary Hatch, Sehome HS, WA
Smush balls worked out great for us. Much safer and last longer than wiffle and tennis balls. Our team won the Virginia AA state championship. A great year for us. 29-1 record. Ken Bennett, Poquoson HS, VA
In a nutshell, the Smushballs worked out just fine! We used them to supplement our inside and on-field batting practice, using the Smushballs as a station unto itself. On the season, our program finished with a 43-5 overall record including our Varsity (20-0, Class I State Champions) and JV (15-0) teams finishing undefeated. Tim Hopley (Hop), Portsmouth High School (NH).
I want to let you know
how much the smushballs helped our batting average. Our team batting
average went from .278 to .376 in one season. We use the smushballs
at every practice, whether it is indoors or out. We use them on tee
stations, soft toss stations and bunt stations. These balls are excellent
tools for any level of play. I highly recommend them for every baseball
team out there.
Our smushballs are working out great! We are in the third year of them and have not had any tear or fall apart like whiffle balls would. My players like hitting them because they are heavier than a whiffle ball and you get a better feel for it than you would a whiffle ball. We have used them right after rain delays to keep loose and haven't had any of them get water logged or chip away. I would strongly recommend using the Smushball! Jeff LeBeau, Tri-County High School, IN
We implemented smusballs into our program for the first time this year, and we had tremendous success using them. The use of the smushballs enabled us to make much more effective and efficient use of our auxiliary gym. We eliminated using the batting cage and were able to have as many as eight players hitting at a time against a "live" arm. We also loved taking smushballs on the road, where we would go down the foul line and have four groups of three hitters hit in as few as 10 minutes, thanks to the restricted flight of the smushballs. Alan Gibson,Roosevelt High School, CO
I am very happy with the Smushballs. We were able to use them to hit into the fense w/o tearing the fense up on soft toss at away games. We used them in groups out along the outfield fense, hitting back toward the infiedl like long pepper except full swings. We were able to do this with about 30 kids getting 20 - 30 swings in 15 min. Some of the players like the idea of hitting them when they only have 2 or three players on the field. Our cages are safer because we don't have to worry about getting hit by the balls, These are just a few ways we used them. Dan Coomes, Lake Placid HS, FL
The smushballs are great. We would use them before every game. Most of the time the players on the bench would use them during games to hit off a tee and take some swings before they came into the game. During practice while we are taking BP we set up a station with the smushballs for guys to get in more cuts and to get loose before they hit live BP. Our season was very successful. We finished 44-14 and lost the Championship game of the National Club Baseball Association World Series in Ft. Myers, Florida. We finished ranked 2nd in the country. I definitely recommend the smushballs. I am on the board for a local little league and I had them purchase some smushballs this summer for each team. I will never buy a wiffle ball again.
